Quilter Cheviot & the RHA 185th Annual Exhibition Pre-show by Aidan Oliver Weldon

Having photographed various Quilter Cheviot Investment Management events over the last couple of years I was invited along to capture the spirit of the latest Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) 185th Annual Exhibition for a pre-show viewing in the Gallagher Gallery, 15 Ely Place, D2 on the 21st May.

From the 10th to the 11th April just over 1,000 artists left in their paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and sculpture into the RHA for review by 8 members of the Academy whose job it was to select 10% of this overall work for show. To quote Patrick T Murphy (RHA Director) "The 185th RHA Annual Exhibition is like its predecessors, a magnanimous act of inclusion".

Having seen the fantastic work which went on show I have decided to submit a piece for inclusion into the 186th RHA Annual Exhibition. More information can be found regarding submissions here. Wish me luck!.

The images below were provided courtesy of Quilter Cheviot and the RHA. The first image shows Mick O'Dea PRHA (far left) chatting to Quilter Cheviot executives and Patrick T Murphy.

Susan and Sean by Aidan Oliver Weldon

Susan and Sean got married in the Morrison (Doubletree by Hilton) Hotel in October last year. What a fabulous couple, as relaxed as you get and very young to boot.

It did rain buckets outside but we were all comforted by the wonderful surroundings of this sumptuous hotel and not a soul mentioned the weather which was very refreshing. Everybody had a ball.

Have a look below for a flavour of the photos that were captured throughout the day.

Here is a shot of the simple stylish and chic Studio wedding album that they chose to showcase their wedding photos.

I am Wedding Storyteller by Aidan Oliver Weldon

When MyWed approached me in mid June to upload a photo story as part of their international wedding competition (in conjunction with Nikon), I was chuffed. It was only after looking at some of the other entries that you get a sense of the calibre of each wedding photographer who was chosen to participate. Wonderful is the only term I can use for each and every submission.

The bar is raised so high with this competition it can only be but inspiring.

You can see my entry here and my qualifying portfolio photos here

Christopher Biggins and students from Alexandra College launch HOPE Carnival 2015 by Aidan Oliver Weldon

The Hope Foundation is a charity that is very close to my heart for many reasons, the main one being that I have seen first hand the life saving work they undertake on behalf of poor kids in Kolkata, its suburbs and hinterland.

Maureen Forrest, its founder and director works tirelessly and selflessy to raise funds to help the kids who are oftentimes orphans, addicts and worse - many of whom have nothing but The Hope Foundation to give them a chance at living some semblance of a normal life.

I have worked with this foundation over the last number of years in a Press & PR capacity and I am extremely proud to do so. We shot the photos in Alexandra College, Milltown and had patron and thespian Christopher Biggins mix and chat to the college students who were of course delighted to see him.

Please see below for more details regarding the upcoming carnival and drop in to say hello, buy a cake or browse the bric a brac stall.

Hope Carnival 2015 Press Release

British actor and television presenter, Christopher Biggins joined students from Alexandra College, Dublin to launch the first HOPE Summer Carnival and Market taking place between 2-6pm on Sunday, 14 June.

Taking place in the Green Door Market, New Market, Dublin 8, carnival goers will be entertained by fairground games such as hood-a-duck, coconut shy and ring toss, along with a selection of ‘pre-loved’ clothes stalls, homemade cakes and treats and hidden gems in the bric a brac section. Entry to the HOPE Carnival is free and all proceeds from the afternoon go to the Hope Foundation’s (HOPE) work with street and slum children in Kolkata.

Speaking about the Carnival, HOPE Parton, Christopher Biggins stated, ‘'It's my pleasure to launch the HOPE Carnival for the Hope Foundation. I have been involved with HOPE for many years and have seen how they change the lives of the street and slum children in Kolkata through their education projects and child protection homes. The HOPE Carnival will be a day of celebrations with market stalls and carnival games to keep all ages entertained for the afternoon and all money raised will go towards helping HOPE continue their good work.’
