Irish Times front page photo by aidanoliver photography - Tuesday 11th October 2011 by Conor Kinchella Stewart Photography

We made the Irish Times front page today with a photograph headline entitled: "Daylight robbery: European Commission subject of playful protest over bailout". Caption underneath read: Four demonstrators against the EU-IMF bailout encountering European Commission representative Nigel Nagarajan in Dublin yesterday. They are Cathal Ó Meara, Cian Ó Meara, Brian Sheehan and Tom Boland

The aim of this protest was to take the existing "Occupy Dame Street Protest" around the city in a peaceful and playful manner.

It was a real pleasure to have landed this shot in the front page of the countries leading paper and we think that no more needs to be said regarding its message. We also thank the Irish Times for printing this photo.

Press Release Information:

Four Guerilla style protesters from Fermoy take a day off work and come to Dublin to demonstrate their opinion against the flow of revenue and assets from the country due to our ongoing  commitment to honour private bank debts.

The four men joined the ‘ongoing’ protest on Sunday night, camping outside the Central Bank of Ireland.

“The use of taxpayers monies to repay failed private investment while public services are cut back is immoral and in our vision for change will be made illegal and punishable through criminal law”.The protest was undertaken in a tongue in cheek fashion, the bags of ‘SWAG’ and uniforms depicting the wholesale daylight robbery of a Sovereign nations wealth by private investment interests.

The protest took them to the Department of Finance on Upper Merrion Street, Dail Eireann on Kildare Street, Bank of Ireland, College Green and European Union House on Dawson Street.

Protesting were: Cathal O Meara, Cian O’ Meara, Brian Sheehan and Tom Boland. The four are in full time employment but took the day off to protest.

Nigel Nagarajan Notes:

Nigel Nagarajan - Head of Economic and Financial Affairs in the EU's Delegation to the USA and also (the EU Commission representative in Ireland). Mr Nagarajan, is working out of the commission’s office in Dublin.

Sarah and Billy Engagement Shoot – Lifestyle Photography by Conor Kinchella Stewart Photography

2011-08-26_033.jpg

More engagement shoots this summer and Sarah and Billy's July shoot was undertaken in the rain which was not ideal but we did our best to ensure that we covered as much of the shoot as possible in the shelter, ie, under tree cover, and also with the help of the trusty umbrella (a number of which I carry along for the inevitable Irish weather). The photoshoot was undertaken early morn in St Anne's Park in Raheny, a short stroll from the James Larkin coast road.  I was after shooting a wedding the day before in Kilkenny and we had decided that evening to go ahead pending Met Eireann's 'wet finger in the sky' forecast and all appeared well until a half an hour into the shoot and the the rain appeared!. So fiddlesticks and all the rest, we carried on, and to be honest it turned out well, Billy's wet dog adding some character to the shoot - he seemed to have delighted in the whole affair!. The shot taken which looks like a foggy background, was actual heavy misty rain and it is one of my favourites of the day as was a second shot of the railing taken with dripping rain.

Of particular interest was the rose garden which was part of St. Anne’s Park Rose Festival 2011 which was held a week later in St. Anne’s Park, Raheny on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th July, 2011. The colors of the roses added a lively palette to the shoot, further enhanced by the diffused light of early morning.

Four hours later I was photographing Neil Delamere on the river Liffey for his new show "The Only Viking In The Village", which will be aired in a few months time - the weather could not have been more amiable. A busy but enjoyable two days of action packed photography.

We thank Sarah and Billy for being so easy to work with and we so look forward to photographing their wedding next year!.

Vintage Theme Wedding Photography by aidanoliver photography by Conor Kinchella Stewart Photography

2011-08-26_007.jpg

Themed weddings are a rarity and Emma & Chris’s vintage wedding (1920‘s - 50‘s) earlier this year was an even rarer chance to photograph their wedding without the pressure of being the main photographer. My good friend German Collins had this great pleasure to undertake so we were left to wander around as a casual observer. The wedding venue was Cabra Castle in Kingscourt Co Cavan. Regarding fashion, well, we are talking, spats, trilby’s, zoot suits for the men, feather boa’s, empire waisted gowns and flapper outfits for the ladies - vintage fashion was clearly very evident for this fine wedding.

We stood and observed, armed with a Hasselblad 503CW and many rolls of Kodak T-MAX 400 film. A mix of both the CF 80mm and CF 50mm lens were used to capture the images as seen below. Available light was measured with the trusty Sekonic L-608 light meter. We did not use flash, just simple ambient light. All images were scanned in using Epson V750 PRO scanner and sepia toned for effect.

It was an amazing to go back to (relative) basics for this shoot, the aim being to capture as roughly and naturally as possible a flavour of Emma and Chris’s fab wedding day. Obviously, there were some “acting up” photos which we could not resist capturing.

You will also observe occasional out of focus or fuzzy movement in the odd photo which adds to the authenticity of the shoot, and the fact that we have included them in this blog means we had the freedom to do so with artistic licence and jurisprudence!. You can also see some more photos we captured with modern technology (the next day) here

Thanks to Chris and Emma for letting us showcase our relaxed take on this brilliant wedding. We wish them the very best for their future together.
